Green Light Projects—Energy
- Apply low-E film to low-performance glazing.
- Calibrate controls to ensure the building system is functioning at its intended performance level.
- Check HVAC system for leaks.
- Commission existing HVAC controls.
- Inspect and repair steam traps.
- Install variable frequency drives on pumps and motors.
- Establish baseline for current energy consumption.
- Perform economizer maintenance.
- Practice preventive maintenance of major HVAC equipment.
- Reduce supply air temperature at night.
- Reevaluate HVAC equipment scheduling.
- Replace air-handling unit (AHU) filters regularly.
- Replace existing magnetic ballast lighting fixtures with more efficient fixtures.
- Seal leaks and insulate.
- Set thermostats to balance efficiency and comfort.
Note: For the launch of the Sustainability Roadmap for Hospitals, only the Green Light performance improvement measures (PIMs) appear. Watch this space for the addition of additional basic level projects as well as those at the intermediate and advanced levels.
