EPA’s EPP Program. Environmentally preferable purchasing (EPP) helps the federal government "buy green," and in doing so, uses the federal government's enormous buying power to stimulate market demand for green products and services. Geared first to help federal purchasers, this site can help green vendors, businesses large and small , and consumers.

The EPPnet LISTSERV (www.nerc.org/eppnet/index.html), powered by NERC, provides quick access to information, such as: availability of product specifications, vendors of particular products, pricing information, and strategies to achieve recycled product procurement goals and federal procurement policies.

Responsible Purchasing Network (RPN) www.responsiblepurchasing.org a membership network of buyers dedicated to socially responsible and environmentally sustainable purchasing.

Ecologo Program. Recognized and respected certification program, setting standards and certifying a variety of products.

Sustainable Hospitals: Provides technical support for selecting health care products and work practices that reduce occupational and environmental hazards. Website includes an extensive list of alternative medical products.

Green Seal is an independent, non-profit organization that uses science-based standards and the power of the marketplace to create a more sustainable world.

Premier, Inc. GreenHealthy ® Environmental Leadership for Healthcare initiative features guidance on environmentally preferable purchasing and health care energy use reduction.

EPP Specifications, Environmental Claims, and Certification Programs

EPA’s Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) Database—a tool to facilitate the purchase of products and services with reduced environmental impacts. The database contains information on mandatory purchase programs contained in FAR Part 23 (Energy Star, CPG, and Biopreferred Products) as well as environmental products available through supply programs such as Ability One and the U.S. General Services Administration.
